I grew up in a town in Connecticut, best known for the university, Yale- but as a young passionate artist, I was looking for an outlet for my creativity. Not an Ivy League degree.
I moved to Los Angeles in 1989, where I got my first tattoo, and that's all it took- soon I was on my way to collecting many more pieces. This lead to me starting an apprenticeship with Rockwood Ricc, in 1992. I have been working professionally in Los Angeles ever since... After 10 years of working out of street shops I finally decided to venture out on my own, and make my mark on the world- one tattoo at a time.
This resulted in me working privately out of a small 1 man studio. It was hard work, but perfect for me. Now I could give each client a private place to feel comfortable. I was able to grow artistically in so many ways. I had peace of mind and space to truly be creative. After 4 years of working this way, I proved I could not only keep a steady clientele, but have a business that was growing rapidly. Tattooing has made and given me so many things over the past years and coming up on 15 years in the business I started thinking, What next?
I decided it was time for me to share what I knew and learned over these past years. I took on 2 apprentices and started thinking about how to expand the feeling of my private studio.
July 21st, 2007 was the Grand Opening of Art of Life. This is a culmination of my life's work - A Tattoo Lounge and Art Gallery.
Now I have 4 private, comfortable tattoo rooms where each artist is equipped with the best amenities. This affords every artist and their clients the highest level of comfort- for the best tattoo possible. Our sterilization practices are of the highest caliber, and we would consider nothing less. We have an art gallery hosting paintings for sale from some of L.A.s hottest artists. Of course, our one-of-a-kind lounge area offers a great atmosphere- here you can relax while you wait or hang after you have your work done. There's a pool table, big screen TV, and plenty of seating to feel at home.
My whole idea with Art of Life is to create a place where art prevails and anyone can come in and feel like they have been there before.
